Natural Health Studies The following Terms and Conditions apply to: * WHOLISTIC NUTRITION CORRESPONDENCE COURSE * ESSENCES CORRESPONDENCE COURSE (Please scroll down to applicable terms and conditions) For full terms and conditions, including those for the Back to Basics (Anatomy, Physiology, and Chemistry) Course, please contact Living Energy. ______________________________________________________________________ SUMMARY of TERMS and CONDITIONS for Wholistic Nutrition Correspondence Course 1. Should a student change their mind, they have 14 days to return the course (unmarked or damaged in any way) for a refund less $75.00 per level to cover administrative costs. Living Energy has the right to deduct monies from original amount paid should the course be returned damaged or marked in any way. Return shipping cost is payable by the returnee and any returned material must be returned by registered mail (i.e. signature required). There will be no refunds or discounts granted after the initial 14 day period. 2. Cost of course (either per level or as a package) includes course material (detailed notes, handouts, and binder), all administration fees, and exam fee for each level. Fees are subject to change without notice. All course material will be sent via Canada Post or maybe be picked up, in person, by students. 3. Students are responsible for obtaining their own textbooks and resource material and a list of required reading and textbook material is provided upon registration and at the end of each level. 4. Two years (24 months) have been allotted for the completion of the Nutrition course (levels 1-3), including examinations; and once the final workbook material for level 3 has been completed the student has 6 months to complete the final (level 3) examination for the correspondence component of the program. Should a student fail to complete the entire correspondence portion of course within the allotted time (24 months) they may be granted an extension (at the discretion of Living Energy and Dr. Ruzicka) and any extensions will be subject to an additional one-time only readmission fee of $150.00. 5. Students failing to complete the Nutrition course (or any part thereof) after allowed extensions, and still wishing to complete the Nutrition course, may be required to repurchase and re-do the entire course or parts thereof. 6. From time to time, the each student will be provided with updates of any nutrition notes pertinent to the course. Updates will be mailed (via regular Canada Post) or emailed to each student at no charge and only for the time that the student is registered with Living Energy. Once the student has graduated the Nutrition course and is no longer registered with Living Energy, the student will no longer receive free additional handouts or notes and any such handouts or notes can be purchased from Living Energy for a nominal fee. 7. Should a student have questions about the course content, they can contact Living Energy (Dr. Ruzicka) either by telephone during office hours (780) 892-3006 or via email at livingenergynutrition@yahoo.ca and their questions will be answered within 2-3 business days or sooner. Assistance will be not be available to students on some weekends, during Dr. Ruzicka’s personal holiday time, or on Statutory holidays and students will be notified of any drastic scheduling changes that would require Living Energy and Dr. Ruzicka to be unavailable for extended periods of time. 8. All homework lesson questions and assignments can be submitted to Living Energy either via email or Canada Post (at the expense of the student), or can be dropped off at the office of Living Energy. All homework chapter questions and assignments will be marked and promptly returned to the student either via email or Canada Post (or student can collect their papers, in person, from Living Energy). Cost of return mailing (from Living Energy to the student via regular Canada Post) will be covered by Living Energy. Should a student require their homework or assignments to be returned via Express or registered mail, it will be so at the cost to the student. Each set of lesson questions must be completed and marked before a student can move on to the next lesson of the course. Should a student not have access to email (and the homework requires mailing to and fro by Canada Post), Living Energy will contact the student by phone once the lesson homework questions have been marked so that there is minimal delay and the student can carry on with the course. 9. Examinations for all Living Energy Natural Health Study Courses are open-book concept with the exception of Level 4 which involves two(2) exams; a closed-book written exam and a practical exams. Exams are not included with the course material; students can request an exam once all homework questions and assignments have been completed. Exams will be mailed to all students and cost to do so is included in the cost of the course. Once a student completes the exam, it is to be mailed to Living Energy for marking. Students will be notified about their marks once the exam has been marked. 10. Cost for examinations are included in the cost of the nutrition course. 11. If a student fails to successfully pass the exam (passing mark is 80%), they will be able to retake the exam for a non-refundable fee of $150.00 (paid in full prior to the exam being resent). 12. The student will successfully complete each level of the Nutrition Course (all lesson questions and assignment) and successfully pass the examination of one Level before moving on to the next level of the Nutrition Course. Each student will be awarded a Certificate after successful completion of each level. 13. With some lesson questions and all assignments, students are required to do research over and beyond what is provided in the nutrition course material. Such research must be fully referenced; plagiarism and deliberate copying of copy-written work or material is strictly forbidden. 14. No student is allowed to copy the course material for sale or distribution. Should a student be found to violate this clause, they will be immediately expelled form the program; and any certificates that may have been previously granted will become null and void, and student will return course material immediately to Living Energy with no refund of any kind being granted. 15. Students failing to comply with Terms and Conditions as set about by Living Energy may be subject to expulsion from the Nutrition course and will not be granted any or further certificates. 16. Should a student decided to further their career in Natural medicine, it is possible that this nutrition course may not always be accepted, acknowledged, recognized, or accredited by any teaching facility or Institution. Living Energy will inform students as list of affiliated Institutions and Organizations becomes available. It will be the responsibility of the student to contact the Institution they wish to further their career with regarding this Nutrition Course they have undertaken, or are about to take. Should they require detailed course outline material to submit to any Institution or College for accreditation, they can contact Living Energy and the pertinent information will be provided. Currently, the Living Energy Correspondence Nutrition Course (Levels 1-4) is recognized and approved by the following Colleges and Organizations: * Examining Board of Natural Medicine Practitioners (Canada) * Australasian College of Natural Therapies (Sydney, Australia) * Touchpoint Institute of Reflexology and Kinesthetics (Vancouver, Canada) * The New Earth College (Toronto, Canada) * Association of Doctors of Natural Medicine - Alberta * Massage Therapist Association of Alberta (MTAA) For more detailed information regarding these affiliations, please contact Living Energy. Additional Notes Regarding Nutrition Course Level Four (Advanced Nutrition). 1. The Advanced Nutrition course can only be taken by those students who have successfully completed Levels 1-3 of the Nutrition Course; or by students who have previously studied and passed a nutrition program offered by another teaching Institution or College. For students who fall into the latter category, an interview with Dr. Ruzicka will be required before they are accepted into the program. 2. The Advanced Nutrition Course will be a practical course in that each student will be required to attend level 4 in person. Currently the course is offered over 5 full days (10am-5pm, Monday-Friday) where students are given practial tuition in the Level 4 course material, and then are required to sit a final one-hour written examination as well as a one-hour practical examination. On successful completion of the course material and examination the student will be awarded at Certificate in Advanced Nutrition. At the successful completion of the course (level 4), each student will be awarded with an Advanced Nutrition certificate. 4. Students who successfully complete this Nutrition program are not registered dietitians, registered nutritionalists, or clinical nutritionalists and any student falsely claiming to hold those titles will have their certificates and all privileges revoked. 5. Students graduating this Nutrition program may only make suggestions and recommendations to their clients with regards to nutrition and, unless they have furthered their education to the level of, and have become licensed as, an MD (or higher), under no circumstances are they permitted to treat, prescribe, diagnose, or cure; or make claims that they can treat, prescribe, diagnose, or cure. Cost of course includes course material (detailed workbook, handouts, and binder), all administration fees, and exam fee. Fees are subject to change without notice. All course material (with the exception of handouts and updates) will be sent via expedited (signature required) Canada Post. Shipping and handling fees are included in the cost of the course for Canadian students only. International students are required to contact Living Energy for shipping and handling charges. 3. One year (12 months) has been allotted for the completion of the Essences course, including examination and assignment. Should a student fail to complete the entire course within the allotted time (12 months) they may be granted an extension (at the discretion of Living Energy and Dr. Ruzicka) and any extensions will be subject to an additional one-time only readmission fee of $150.00. 4. Students failing to complete the Essences course (or any part thereof) after allowed extensions, and still wishing to complete the Essences course, may be required to repurchase and re-do the entire course or parts thereof. 5. All homework chapter questions and assignments can be submitted to Living Energy either via email or regular Canada Post (at the expense of the student), or can be dropped off at the office of Living Energy. All homework chapter questions and assignments will be marked and promptly returned to the student either via email or Canada Post (or student can collect their papers, in person, from Living Energy). Cost of return homework to students (from Living Energy to the student via regular Canada Post) will be covered by Living Energy. Examinations for all Living Energy Natural Health Study Courses will be held on the last Saturday of every month, excluding January and December, and are to be attended by students in person. At the start of each calendar year Dr. Ruzicka will determine the exact location, date, and time of the examination, after which this list will be available to all students. It is the responsibility of the student to contact Living Energy (either by phone or email) to obtain this list. Each student must contact Living Energy in advance to book an exam date. STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SIT EXAMS IF THEY TURN UP WITHOUT PREVIOUSLY HAVING BOOKED A TIME. Students studying other Living Energy Natural Health Study courses are able to sit multiple exams on the same day; advance notice of this needs to be given to Living Energy so that all pertinent exams papers can be arranged. 8. Cost for examinations held during designated times are included in cost of the nutrition course. If a student wishes to sit an exam on dates other than those designated, they may contact Living Energy to pre-arrange an exam time. The cost for examinations outside of designated dates is $150.00 per exam. 9. Students who are unable to attend exams in person on the predetermined dates will be permitted to have their exam overseen by a Proctor who has been approved by Living Energy and Dr. Ruzicka. It will be the sole responsibility of the student to cover all costs related to the Proctor (fees are at the discretion of the Proctor and are in no way related to, or part of, the Essences course, nor the responsibility of Living Energy or Dr. Ruzicka). 10. If a student fails to successfully pass the exam (passing mark is 70%), they will be able to re-sit the exam at the next available examination date for a non-refundable fee of $150.00 (paid in full prior to, or at time of, the examination). 11. The student will successfully complete the entire Essences Course (all chapter questions and the assignment) and successfully pass the examination before being presented with a Certificate of completion. 12. The assignment for the Essences courses comprises of 15 cases (including at least one review) where students will gather information about each client and make essence recommendations. Students have the full year, from course commencement date, to complete the assignment (i.e. it can be completed after the examination if the examination is taken well before the 12- month completion deadline). Each initial visit with a client will be followed by a review (recommended time 1-2 weeks) and students will be required to keep detailed notes on each client which will then be submitted to Living Energy for marking (once all 15 cases are complete. Students must hold any information provided to them by their 15 clients it total confidence and trust, and Living Energy will do the same. Anyone violating the confidence of a client will result in disciplinary action and the student will be expelled from the course immediately. Any student who fails to complete the assignment in the allotted time will not be eligible to receive a Certificate of Completion. Certificates of Completion will only be awarded once students have completed ALL aspects of the course: the correspondence section (including all homework); the practical weekend portion; and the assignment. Students having difficulty or challenges with the assignment (or any part of the course) should contact Living Energy. 13. Regarding homework questions and assignments, if a student desires to do research over and beyond what is provided in the course material they may, provided that such research be fully referenced; plagiarism and deliberate copying of copy-written work or material is strictly forbidden. (Note: all information for successfully answering Chapter questions is provided in the course material). Any student found to be violating this clause will be immediately expelled from the Nutrition course and will not be granted any or further certificates. 14. Cheating is strictly forbidden and any student found to be cheating will be immediately expelled from the Essences course and will not be granted any or further certificates. 15. No student is allowed to copy any part of the Living Energy Essences Correspondence Course material for sale or distribution. Should a student be found to violate this clause, they will be immediately expelled from the program and depending on severity of violation, may be subject to prosecution; and any certificates that may have been previously granted will become null and void, and student will return course material immediately to Living Energy with no refund of any kind being granted. 16. Students failing to comply with Terms and Conditions as set about by Living Energy may be subject to expulsion from the Essence course and will not be granted any or further certificates. 17.
